So that Apple Support site is saying you need:
"MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)"
If you have a very early machine, (Core Duo), the newest you could run is Snow Leopard 10.6.8, which is apparently where you're at now.
You'd need to upgrade to a Core 2 Duo at least.
