the entire screen now has zoom and I can do nothing to restore or back to normal, suggestions, tips

Why can't you restore the iPod to factory settings/new iPod? Error message?

I had a similar problem: did not realise that zoom was switched on. Found that if you tap screen with three fingers it returns to normal size. To go back into zoom tap with three fingers. To move around screen in zoom mode use three fingers.
