I am using a older Apple Cinema Display from 2003 ... with Maverick it worked fine without any problems ... after upgrading to Yosemite (10.10.1 > 10.10.2 > 10.10.3 > 10.10.4 public beta) the Display is not anymore detected by the system. Already tried rest PRAM, VRAM, SMC, deleted windowserver.plist etc. – nothing helped.

Not sure what to suggest, except to test the display with another known good
computer in order to check for hardware failure. I have an Apple aluminum 20"
cinema display, early model, from approximately the same era, and it does OK.

While my fairly new Mac Mini shipped with Mavericks & does not have Yosemite,
my concern due to age, that some costly component in the display will fail. Not
sure how useful or well any online repair guides may be used to attempt a fix.

Some online sources show replacement power supplies, etc so that is an item
that could be contributory to your experience, if the unit has failed.
Troubleshooting these displays may be essentially that, trouble. Avoid the other
part, since I've heard they don't do well as targets; that depreciates repairability.
So if you can get another computer that supports the display, with correct adapter
then you may be able to test it for a failure. There may be an issue related to the
graphic driver update/upgrade, though I've not read about those being a cause, yet.

thanks for your message but i already tried it on an older Macbook and see that the Monitor is working ... it seems to be a Yosemite problem
Yes, that is an odd problem that appears to relate as you indicated in earlier post.
Not sure how one could address it at this point, perhaps someone has a different
way to prompt an external display to use the correct signal & resolution, with your
model and build year of portable Mac. There may be a settings problem behind it.
There were some ideas, but for use with later displays, that appeared in a search
engine result; after reading through, they did not address early Apple Cinemas.
One variant of PRAM reset, to try & help external display appear, went thus:
1) Connect your laptop to the external display
2) Turn off your MacBook
3) Do a PRAM reset while booting
4) Done
As the time locally is near 2AM, there's not much functional help I could do now.
Hopefully someone may see your thread & offer a novel or unique idea, such as
try new replacement cables or adapters, or some resolution setting change, etc.
