Q: I have forgotten the password on my new mini iPad!

I have followed online instructions on how to restore the iPad, however iTunes is asking me whether I want to allow the computer to have access to my iPad, the problem with that is I have to respond to that via iPad which I obviously can't access so it stops restoring. I have also tried to contact Apple to talk to them about it, however they are asking for my serial number which I also can't access. Anyone that can help me?
