Jun 9, 2015 12:36 PM in response to yvonnefromfinlandby FoxFifth,There is no option with iCloud to have cloud-only storage. The most you can do is go to Settings > Photos & Camera and turn on Optimize iPhone Storage to reduce the amount of storage required on the phone.

Jun 10, 2015 7:38 AM in response to FoxFifthby yvonnefromfinland,Ok, thanks. That explains a lot. And, makes me a bit angry, because I probably wouldn't have bought more space in iCloud if I only had understood how it works. I actually tried to e-mail the local support in my own language, but didn't get a "proper answer" - perhaps I didn't make myself clear.

You can cancel (downgrade back to free level) your storage if you aren't going to use it. See iCloud storage upgrades and downgrades - Apple Support
Also, there are other options for cloud-only storage from your phone. I haven't used them myself but Flickr and Dropbox are two that you may want to investigate that I think offer a cloud-only option. You could also make a suggestion to Apple that they make that option available. The place for that is https://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html

Jun 11, 2015 2:33 AM in response to FoxFifthby yvonnefromfinland,Thank you once again! I'll perhaps have to check the storage level again - I'm not sure if I'm going to use it. I used to have Dropbox on my former laptop, but it slowed the system down a lot, so I erased it. Perhaps it would work better now that I recently bought a MacBook Air.
