Q: Is there a way to NOT install an update

When the App Store notifies me that there's an update available for a particular app, is there some way skip it if I don't ever want to install it, or am I stuck with forever having a flag (badge?) that says "1"?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), None

Hello MartinLiss,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
I see you want to hide updates for an app. There isn't a way to hide the updates themselves, but you can hide the purchase in the Mac App Store and the updates for that app will no longer show up. See the following article for how to do that:

I hid it and I understand that I won't get any more update notifications, but there seemed to be no way to not install the current one so I went ahead and did it.
