Should the email address of the receiver be @icloud.com only ?

I sent an itunes album gift to somebody's email but it ends in yahoo.com for i dont know the icloud.com email address is that OK or it should be icloud email recipient only?
You would have to send it to their e-mail address, whatever that may be.
