Hard Drive Problem

I have an iBook G4 when I start it up, a folder with a flashing question mark/finder icon appears. I boot it off a OS X 10.4 disk and open Disk Utility. The internal hard drive doesn't show up at all. I installed OS X on my iPod and tried to boot off that, but in Startup Disk it doesn't show up. It's partitioned to Apple Partition Map and formatted as OS X Journaled.

The 10.4.9 installer disc did not come with the iBook from 2004. If it came with anything that was a Mac from March 13, 2007 or later. You want either the 10.4 retail disc with a black label with a white X logo with no Update or Dropin or OEM indication on it, or the original discs from the iBook to install on your iPod. Also you need a Firewire compatible iPod to boot the iBook. USB compatible will not work.
