Filtering Multiple Columns as in Excel

I have a spread sheet that I would like to filter by "Customer Name" in a column. There are multiple customers. Is there not an option to have them all listed in the filter selection, as in Excel, to check or uncheck without having to go back to filter again and recheck each one?

Some pictures of how you filter by multiple values (not columns) in Numbers.

Clicking the disclosure triangle at the column letter:

Not (in my opinion) quite as polished as Excel but similar. To uncheck just select the value from the dropdown again.

To turn off (turn on) the filter, all at once usethe panel at the right and check/uncheck the box to the right of 'Filters':

Hi chdever,

If SG's solution is not what you are looking for there is another way to accomplish this in Numbers. It involves setting up a column with a formula in it that will show TRUE when a condition is met. Say, when a value is chosen from a popup menu. Badunit describes it here. It has worked well for me when I have wanted to vary a filter in an applesript. SG's solution is a lot simpler.
