Jun 10, 2015 12:05 PM in response to LA-renzoby markwmsn,You haven't said what model/year iMac you have or what version of OS X you are running. The prerequisites differ depending on whether your Mac is talking to another Mac or an iOS device. Perhaps this quote from Mac Basics: AirDrop lets you send files from your Mac to nearby Macs and iOS devices - Apple Support may help:
In order to transfer files between a Mac and and an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
- your iOS device needs to include a lightning connector
- your iOS device needs iOS 7 or later installed
- your Mac needs to be a 2012 or later model with OS X Yosemite installed
- Your Mac and iOS device both need bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on. You do not have to be connected to a specific Wi-Fi network.

Aug 23, 2015 11:24 AM in response to markwmsnby LA-renzo,This reply is way overdue I'm so sorry! But I found out my Mac's model through its serial code and it says "iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2010)" so I assume this is why Airdrop isn't working properly with it
