mac pro disc burner or software not found

Hi-

I have a mid 2010 Apple Mac Pro, running on OS 10.9.5. The cd drive will not eject a disc in the drive. I tried "Command E" but no luck. I tried to burn a disc to force the drive to eject, but received the message

"disc burner or software not found". All the posts I have seen on this issue are PC related. Any advice?
