Guys i have the new Macbook and Dell Ultrasharp 27inch screen. For some reason the usbc to hdmi adapter only gives me 720p and mirrored display.
Anything else and the screen goes blank. Screen works fine on MBP using HDMI direct. Also it works on 24 Dell Ultrasharps....

Can you be more specific, there are multiple models of Dell Ultrasharp 27" models, i.e., U2711, U2713, U2715.
What is the display's native resoltuion?

Setting the display to 1920x1080 doesn't work?
I found that the HDMI output on the 12" Macbook is fickle. It only wants to output 16:9 -- 720, 1080, or 3840. I had a lot of issues with a 16:10 Dell display. Flicker, blanking, and crazy distortion. Switched to a Dell P2715Q 4K display and it's more reliable but the resolution options are limited and terrible.
