Q: Funky Problem entering events on iCal / Calendar app

Calendar (iCal) keeps erasing new entries I add, defaulting to 'new entry.'

Has been going on 5 days.

Running on OS 10.9.4.

No new software added or updated.

What gives? And how can I fix it?

iMac (27-inch Mid 2010), OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

You're welcome. Obviously, no one saw that post or they would have reported it right away. If you ever have another problem like it, give it a few hours and then start a new post with something like "need to delete private info in post" and post a link to your post. It was a good thing that Kenneth posted here as tech support and these forums are two entirely different entities and the Applecare advisors really have nothing they can do over here. As I said, there are no Apple employees - there are some hosts who run the forum and take action if necessary (making sure the forums run the way they should), but they don't read posts generally without being alerted to one. The rest of us are all volunteers/other users.

So to understand, the hosts are also volunteers/other users? And they check in when/as time allows?

    Thanks again, Babowa!

No, maybe I didn't explain it well enough: the hosts are Apple employees and their task is to make the forums run smoothly which is quite a chore as there are more than 3 million people who have established an account (these are extremely busy forums!!). But, they do not provide tech support here or participate in threads (except to edit posts if asked and/or remove them if there is a serious problem) and it's a separate entity from the actual Apple tech support site where there are (I assume) nothing but Apple employees.

And here are a couple of links that might explain things a bit more (the explanation of privileges, the ToU, and start page of tutorials):

This same problem started happening to me in early July (2015).

So, what was the solution you got from Apple Care? Please share.

    Thanks!
