iPod 5 weird problem. Please help!

my iPod literally stopped working when i got home. i got home and it wouldn't automatically connect to wifi. so i went to settings, forgot the wifi network and went to type in the password and it wouldn't work. I went to go try to open some apps after a while and it would just immediately crash. so then i just said oh well and went to erase all settings and data. it wouldnt let me without my apple id. i typed in my password. it says my password was wrong. so i signed out of my apple id. tried it again. still wouldnt work. i signed out of my icloud. i couldnt until i turned off find my ipod. i turned that off but needed my apple id password. so i put my password in and it says an error. so i cannot reset my ipod or anything. If anyone knows what's wrong or knows how to fix it, please tell me, I need to know ASAP!

Hi Amanda, looks like you are having trouble with your ipod. Maybe put it into recovery mode:

To put your device into recovery mode, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off your device and leave it off.
  2. Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes.
  3. Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. ...
  4. When you see the apple logo screen, release the Home button.

then restore it using itunes most common errors are 6= security issue 14= usb cable problem.

If restoring does not work then i suggest you take it back to the apple store where you bought it from

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings

For how to restore:

iTunes: Restoring iOS software

To restore from backup see:

iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

Check your security software

Errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1611, 9006.

Sometimes security software can stop your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.

Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't blocking a connection to the Apple servers.

If you still see the error message, check for USB connection issues.
