Q: activation AppleTV failed
Hi,
I work at a school with around 40 AppleTV's. Since a while we can not activate any AppleTV's anymore. At times we need to reset the AppleTV's to factory default or recovering via iTunes.
While troubleshooting, we got a message once, there are to many devices activated on the network. Most of the times we don't get any error message at all. Activating just times out. We checked internally if it was because of our wireless network. That was not the problem. And using a wired connection we could not activate either. We don't have any problems registering our hundreds of iPads or other Apple devices on our network. It's just our AppleTV's that won't activate anymore.
Searching the internet for solutions, we found out, it's Apple who bans our network for AppleTV activations somehow.
We found a possible solution to try actiivate it somewhere else. That seems to be our workaround. If I take the AppleTV home, I can activate without any problems on my own internet connection. This week I found out, using my smartphones Wifi-hotspot, I can register the AppleTV too. After activation is succesfull, everything works perfectly when connected to our school network.
I hope Apple will help us in this matter.
