I have a new iPad Air and have fogotten my passcode. I can't restore because "Find my iPad" is turned on. Also, last time I used the iPad, I apparently didn't leave wifi on. How can I reset the iPad and/or passcode?

What Philly_Phan is talking about does not apply to your situation.

Did you try using recovery mode? This will totally erase the iPad but I don't think you need to enter the passcode in order to restore the device, but I'm not absolutely certain about that.

If that doesn't work, you will need to contact Apple for help. I assume that they have a way of restoring an iPad if you can't remember the passcode to unlock the device.

The instructions are in the support article that I posted for you in my response above, but here is a copy and paste. I hope that this will work.

To put your device into recovery mode, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off your device and leave it off.
  2. Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes.
  3. Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
  4. When you see this screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 again.

When your device is connected, iTunes will open. You'll see a message saying that iTunes has detected an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in recovery mode.

Use iTunes to restore your device. Restoring in recovery mode will erase your device. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you might be able to restore from your backup.

The point that I was making about Philly's suggestion is that he is under the assumption that you are trying to activate your iPad and do not know the Apple ID or password that is associated with the device. That does not apply here. You forgot the passcode to unlock the iPad and that is a totally different matter.
