Hi Nick Rao,

You state that Yosemite sees the Epson v500 scanner but will not open it.

It looks like there is a driver for it.

OS X: Printer and scanner software available for download - Apple Support

Model Version Print Scan

EPSON Perfection V500 * 5.7.15 S

* = Vendor software recently updated.

Please insure you have the lastest driver update and try Image Capture to scan.

OS X Yosemite: Scanning troubleshooting

If you’re pressing a button on your scanner to perform the scan, try using an app instead, such as Image Capture, Preview,

Image Capture Help

Best,

Nubz
