Q: Windows StorNext Client. Unable to mount volume; error "Access is denied"
We have just installed a new Xsan 4 MDC and we are trying to configure a new Windows StorNext Client. We are unable to mount the volume, as we get the error "Access is denied".
We are using the proper SNFX5.2 windows client per the compatbility list > Xsan: Compatibility of SAN clients with Xsan and StorNext controllers - Apple Support
We have followed the install per Quantum. We have found this on their support site and there is no change. It feels like XSAN4 does not like the way the Windows client is configured for permissions see guide 6-68045-01_revF_StorNext_5_StorNext_FX_5_Installation_Guide.pdf .See Page 183 The docs are all here >> http://www.quantum.com/sn5docs
We found this on Quantums' Support site and checked it - no fix>
Symptom: After successfully mounting an XSan volume on a Windows StorNext FX client, trying to access the volume results in an 'access denied' pop-up error.
Cause: XSan ACLs are set which are blocking access to the client.
Solution: Remove the ACLs under the XSan volume administration utility or set them to provide access. This is an XSan administration task, and nothing needs to be done on the SNFX client.
We have validated that the .auth_secret has been put in the usr/cvfs/config directory per step 10 in the install and after all of that this feels like something XSAN not Windows not StorNext.
XSAN will allow the client to mount.
