Q: AirPrint Not Working from iPhone and iPad

I have multiple devices (iMac, Macbook Air, iPhone 6+, iPhone 5s and iPad Air) all with most current Yosemite version installed.  I can print wirelessly to my Brother MFC-7860DW printer from the iMac and Macbook Air but not from any of the other devices.  I have preferences set to share the printer over the network and have attempted multiple approaches to resolve the issue (provided through internet and Apple community searches).  Any more suggestions out there?

iPhone 4, iOS 5

    Hi,

Make sure iOS devices are running the lastes iOS version.

Tap Settings > General > Software Update.

I thought this was probably the cause but all devices are using the most recent versions and the problem persist.

The iOS devices require a printer that supports AirPrint while the Macs do not.

The Brother MFC-7860DW is not listed as an AirPrint capable printer on the Apple list found here: About AirPrint - Apple Support

You will probably need a Brother App to AirPrint to this printer.

Thanks, there was a Brother app that now makes it possible to print from my iPad.  Will work on the iiPhones next.

There is still an unanswered question out there that I will pursue.  My network and the devices we use haven't changed in over a year - same wireless base, same IOS devices, same computers and same printer - and I could print from the IOS devices without the Brother app.  It all changed after the last IOS update.

I'm going to check for a printer firmware update and install it if needed.  For now the print problem is resolved but not solved.

Thanks to all who responded to help me out.
