Why do my iPhone and Macbook Pro not receive a file transfer request (accept and decline options) when using airdrop?

My iPhone and Macbook Pro do not show the 'accept and decline' pop-up when files are being transferred from another device. However, they do on my daughter's iPhone. This means that both of my devices are currently just downloading the files and I do not want this. Can I change the settings so that the file transfer request does pop up and give me the option to decline?
