Q: Photos Library never synchronizes with iPhone 6 Plus

Since the upgrade to Apple photos I have a number of problems.

I am on Mac OS X 10.10.3. I have Apple Photos Version 1.0 (209.52.0). I have 729 GB of free disk space. I have 16GB of RAM on a Core i7 MacBook Pro.

  1. I have taken about 200 MB of photos with my iPhone 6 Plus 128 GB (iOS 8.3 (12F70) since I upgraded to Photos, but none of these new photos appear in Photos even when I plug the iPhone directly into my Mac, launch Photos, go to the Import… tab and press the "Import all new photos" button.
  2. My Photos Library has grown by 20GB since the upgrade, but I have only taken 200MB of new photos which haven't appeared in the Library. I have no idea why my library, which was 72GB after I upgraded to Photos, is now over 100GB when no new content has been added.
  3. With the iPhone plugged in Photos reports:

  1. Whether or not I pause the uploading here, the Photos still doesn't import from the iPhone.Photos-Prefs.png

As far as I can tell, Photos just doesn't work?! I can't get anything from my new iPhone 6 Plus to my MacBook Pro. NOTHING!

Since you are using iCloud Photo library do not also import photos - it takes a long time to finish the upload but until the initial upload is complete on all devices no downloads will occur - give it time to complete

Seriously? It has been WEEKS that I've left the computer on, with sleep disabled, with Photos open every day and every night.

Okay, is it normal that my Photos library is 110GB now when it was 72GB before the iCloud Photos upload started?

Unfortunately, before I saw this reply, I rebuilt my Photos library thinking that might be the problem. Now, Photos has completely re-set the upload and claims there are 18,000 items to upload when yesterday it said that there were 1,500 items to upload. How is this possible? Why would it throw WEEKS of work away and remove EVERYTHING from the iCloud servers because I rebuilt the Photos library? And, if it's the case that we have now assumed that everyone with a Mac and iPhone have Gigabit access to the Internet (which I'm pretty sure that VERY FEW people have), this whole exercise starts again and essentially makes the Photos product useless to 90% of users. UGH!!!!

Oh, and my Photos library is now almost 130GB when nothing has been added and nothing can be added to my library since my library was 78GB!?

Well, iCloud drive still claims to have 70GB of photos in my iCloud photos, but Photos says it's uploading from the beginning. This is SO FRUSTRATING.

And the only way to get photos from my iPhone to my MacBook Pro is to email them to myself!? For another month?

Well, Apple had to correct a problem with my iCloud and then waiting was the answer.

Although Photos reported that it would take a long time, obviously Photos eventually audited what it had already uploaded and the full resync only took two days when it had taken 18 days for my photos to upload the first time.
