Ipod shuffle third generation not charging

I own apple shuffle 3rd generation product. Due to some reasons i have not used this shuffle for around 2 years now. Now that i want to use, so trying to charge shuffle, but it's not charging. i left if for few hours, but there was sign of any light coming in.

Could you please advise what might be the cause? or whether i need to visit an apple service center??
