So my phone has been stolen and i have the serial number can i contact apple to get the IMEI?
iPhone 5, iOS 8.1.3
Why do you think you need the IMEI? It won't do you any good...

You can get IMEI from the box your phone came with. Also you may use iTunes to find IMEI number.

I do know how both works however i dont have the box and i never backed it up on this laptop and i dont have access on the other one anymore. IMEI would help me do it. Is it possible?
As already explained...having the iMEI number will do you no good.

Well anyway if i contact apple via mail and tell them about it would they be able to take of my data? even if my phone was out of charge assuming it is out of charge since it has been for a while now?

You are trying to erase the iPhone?
No, Apple will not do it, even if it is possible (which I don't think it is).
Did you have FindMyiPhone enabled?
You can erase it yourself. (also track it and lock it)
