iTunes 12 Album art not saving from imported cd's

Hi,

I'm having an issue saving album art in itunes 12, I'm adding the artwork to the album in the get info window but it is not saving.

I've noticed it will save the art to an mp3 version the album but when I import the album from the CD it doesn't save.

I still like to buy physical music where possible and buy a lot of music from bandcamp, as I get an instant download to listen to while the lp or cd is in the post.

So yesterday I bought a new album, downloaded the mp3 and added the artwork. No problem there. Today the CD arrived, I trashed the mp3 and imported the CD so I would have a WAV version of the album and the album art will not save.

Has anyone else experienced this bug? Does anybody have a solution?

I do not use WAV files but the underlying issue likely stems from the fact that WAV is one of the few audio formats that does not support embedding metadata in the file. You may see labels and artwork but that is only saved in the iTunes database, not in the file itself as with other common file formats. The way iTunes handles artwork is complex and in theory it should still kind of work, but I wonder if the WAV file format is the issue somehow.

I think the easiest way to clear this up is to simply stop using WAV. If you want lossless quality use AIFF, or better, Apple Lossless.

By the way, it isn't a bug. It is a design specification of the WAV format.
