2nd gen ipod shuffle blinking lights + doesn't work

I found my 2nd gen shuffle, and plugged it to my macbook. My computer doesn't recognize my ipod, nor does my iTunes. When I plug it in, an orange light goes on, then a quick flash of a green light directly followed by an orange light, and then the orange light again for two times. Then it does nothing. There are no other lights and I can't play any music. The same lights go on every time I plug the ipod in again. (orange - green+orange - orange - orange - nothing)
