Q: Use iMac as second screen via miniDisplayport to TunderBolt cable

Is it possible that there exist a Driver that makes it possible for my iMac (medio 2011) to function as second screen (TDM) via a miniDisplayPort TunderBolt cable?

I want it to connect to a PC with miniDisplayPort. I tried plugging it in and pressing Command + F2 but nothing happend, also not with the Fn key combined

Well there is a VERY old software tool called ScreenRecycler, you can look into it however my understand is the performance is really bad.

Your question(s) are pretty common and the answers I have provided are correct.

I know you are disappointed but that's how it is. However if you rid of the PC (yeach who wants it anyway) and get a new Mac almost without exception you can use TDM. The only exception currently is the Retina iMacs cannot be used for TDM.

So it's only possible to use an iMac mid 2011 as second screen if you want to useit with a another mac? becouse i have not seen any Windows computers with a thunderbolt port...

Of if you have a PC that has Thunderbolt output that supports video. I know of no PC's that have this ability.

I there no other way, maybe by installing a different driver on the iMac or with a converter?

I see, thanks for your help. I'm a little dissapointed indeed but oh well. Guess i'll just buy a another dispaly. Screen recicler is not an option since i want to use it for gaming...
