NetFlix and MacBook Pro Missing Close Captioning

I subscribe to netflix--both dvd and streaming. I received the Inspector Morse DVD but it had no close captioning. Hooked it up to my macbook pro, turned on the cc function but cc still didn't appear. Streamed Inspector Morse on my ipad and iphone (to test)--both had cc. Why is cc not operating on the macbook pro? My hearing impaired wife needs cc for all shows.
