Where is excel autosaved documents folder at?

I saved a file in excel, the next day it seems to have magically reverted back to the original document. Where is the auto saved document folder located at for OS X Yosemite?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Office 2011 apps store files in the User's Library/Application Support/Microsoft folder.

If you were editing a file that was an email attachment, you should have saved it first to Desktop then edited the saved file. You can't save a file back to email.

Show User's Library

The User's Library folder is hidden by default. To unhide: Select the Finder in the Dock. Under Go in the Menu bar > hold down the Option key and you’ll see the Library.

Barney, Microsoft used to keep data in the Microsoft User Data folder but it moved the data to the User's Library/Application Support/Microsoft folder when SP2 was released. It left the old folders there but no longer uses them. You can read about the changes here:

Service Pack 2 (SP2) 14.2.0 Warnings for Outlook users

Outlook 2016 now stores it's profiles (identities) in the User's Library/Group Containers folder.
