MacBook Pro, Mid 2009, Memory upgrade

My laptop has 2GB of memory and I recently upgraded to OS 10.10.3. Boot time and application launch times have slowed to a crawl. Before I upgrade memory I would appreciate feedback on the likelihood for improvement, the potential glitches and on Crucial, the RAM manufacturer that I am considering. Apple specs say the mid-2009 MacBook Pro can be upgraded to 8GB. I'm looking at a pair of Crucial 4GB DDR3SODIMM PC3-8500 1067MHz RAM. Are there any issues or recommendations with this plan?

Good plan. Go for 8 GBs. You should see a noticeable improvement provided the slowness is only due to the small memory footprint.
