How can I delete photos I no longer want?

A:

select them and press the delete key - they will move to recently deleted photos (file menu ==> recently deleted photos) and stay there about 30 days unless you specifically delete them from there earlier

 

In Photos look to the right of the top bar at the word HELP - click it for help of basic Photos usage
