Airport Extreme & Windows Airport Utility

I am using Windows Airport Utility 5.6.1 under Windows 7 SP1. My network is based on an Airport Extreme. I can connect to it with the Windows Airport Utility, but cannot save its configuration file. Under the File menu, that item is grayed out. Any suggestions?

I'm looking at AirPort Utility 5.6.1 for Mac now...and don't have a PC here to test at this time. But, if I simply open AirPort Utility, and take a look at options, things are in a "read only" mode, so I cannot export or save the configuration file that way.

Try the following:

Open AirPort Utility

Select the AirPort Extreme

Click Manual Setup

Now click the File menu again to see if the Export Configuration File option is enabled.

This works for me. Not sure if it will work on the PC version of AirPort Utility.

acording to Consumer Support Specialist. & a supervisor tech. That the generation 6 Apple Airport Extreme cannot be set up properly on a Windows device.

Because this offer is updated Apple is chosen to not update the software to support generation 6 hardware.

Therefore it must only be set up with a Mac device.

so u might want to return it i have one and ya the 5 ghz band keeps dying this is the 3third replacement and 4th unit
