DesktopsMini DisplayPort picks up a subset of ThunderBolt for DisplayPort displays. You may add up to six.
The first two "Legacy" [i.e., non DisplayPort family] displays are said to be "free". After that, each additional display requires an ACTIVE adapter. Displays over about 1920 wide require an ACTIVE Dual-Link DVI adapter (about US$100) which requires additional power from a USB pigtail or USB charger to run the electronics in the converter.
If you choose to use the Built-in HDMI port, is counts as a "Legacy" display.
