iPhone 4S home button problem

My iPhone 4S home button turns on the phone and I can slide to open the phone, but once the screen is on and the last app that was open is visible, the home button stops working.

It can't be a hardware issue or the home button wouldn't have turned on the phone.

I've got iOS 8.3 on the phone with 500 MB of space on the phone (according to iTunes).

I can't do a Restore iPhone or Restore Backup from iTunes because I've got Find My iPhone turned on and iTunes won't do a reset with that app active.

Any ideas....I'm tapped out.

Howdy Wintersilike,

From your post it sounds like your Home button will allow you to wake the phone to enter the passcode, but when you are in an app it will not work. Can you bring up the force quit screen? If so you may be able to use that to quit all the apps and then restart the device and test the issue again:

iOS: Force an app to close

Double-click the Home button.

Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.

Swipe the app up to close it.

Then:

iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

If you cannot double click the Home button to quit apps, restarting the phone with the above article should take you out of an app you are in and bring you to the Home screen where you can then get to Settings and sign out of Find My phone.
