Install OS 10.4 on external drive using Yosemite

I have a Macbook Pro (late 2011) running Yosemite (10.10.3). I want to use LiveType and so I thought I could install OS X Tiger on an external drive and boot my mac from it. I have already formatted the external HD so I can install Tiger on it. However, when I restart my mac pressing C it won't boot from Tiger's install DVD.

I am at a loss here. Anyone knows if what I'm trying to do is even possible using a computer running Yosemite? If so, what is it that I'm doing wrong?

Your computer is too new to boot Tiger.

That's for replying.

That means that even if I could install Tiger on that external HD I still wouldn't be able make my computer boot Tiger?

I am bumping this up because I thought I could use Snow Leopard (which was designed for Intel processors) instead. Does anyone know if a computer running Yosemite can install Snow Leopard on an HD properly formatted?
