Q: Is there a way to display photo descriptions in a Photos slideshow, the way you could in iPhoto? Or is this another flaw in the new platform?

I loved the way you could have the picture descriptions displayed in iPhoto slideshows. I couldn't find a way to do this in Photos? Am I missing something, or is this another flaw on the new platform? Anyone?

Using OS X 10.10.3

iMac (17-inch Late 2006), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

    Hi gmorahg,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

If I understand correctly, you would like to add text to photos in a slideshow in Photos. If this is correct, please use the instructions in the Add or remove photos and text section in that attached link below to complete this task.

Create and work with slideshows - Photos Help

    Best regards,

    Joe

Been a user (Apple CUSTOMER) since 1984. I just can't understand how a company like this can introduce a second rate product to replace a semi-successful product. Why is it that some of the very basic issues/features have been dropped or not functional in this product that millions of us use daily. Add to that their elimination of features that were important to the program. Then I would ask, what has this new program introduced to the CUSTOMER that is significant plus? - NOTHING! How very disappointing this is. They are more worried about Apple Watch, than they are Apple CUSTOMER!

I agree. As a satisfied user of iPhoto, I keep discovering missing features in Photos. For example, the ability to perform basic editing functions within a selected single picture (Rotate, Hide, Trash, Cut, Copy... Remove from Album). Or the ability to set the desktop directly from the Share menu... Very disappointing.

??? Try right or control clicking on a photo thumbnail -- you should see options for Rotate, Hide, Remove from Album, & Delete, among others.

Thanks, R C-R, this worked. I keep complaining about the lack of features that actually exist but about which I could find no information online. Is there a detailed manual that spells out all the features in Photos? It would be a great help.

If you have not already done so, you might want to start by reading Get started with Photos for OS X & for various topics try searching the online version of Photos Help (https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/) -- the online version has better search results than the builtin one.
