iPod classic 5th gen with video

hello all,

I have a friends classic, s/n ends in V9M model MA446LL

I updated the software using my iTunes account, I loaded music, it seems to be playing the music, but I am not getting any sound, I tried different earbuds, also hooked up usb to a sound bar. I have turned the iPod off and restarted, I have restored the iPod again in iTunes. nothing seems to work. Is there some problem using an updated iTunes account with an older classic?

I would think if works well enough to respond to your attempts to control it and appears to be playing (timers adjusting) then there is enough power. Most docks also power the device when connected so the battery isn't likely to be the problem either. Presumably you've checked both the dock and the headphones with other devices. None of this stuff is built to run forever.
