Q: Mac Pro keeps restarting when I open iTunes for the first time

Hi all,

I have a month old Mac Pro and I just tried to open iTunes for the first time. It opened, a couple seconds passed, my Wacom Intuos3 tablet stopped responding and my computer unexpectedly restarted. When it finished booting I tried again and the same thing happened. When it booted again iTunes was already open and after a couple seconds my computer restarted again. On the next boot I had a window of a couple seconds to close out iTunes and it didn't reboot again. There's no kernel panic message or anything. Does anyone have any ideas why this may be happening? All other programs seem to run fine, even Photoshop.

Mac Pro (Late 2013)

OS X Yosemite

Vers. 10.10.3

3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5

16 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 ECC

AMD FirePro D700 6144 MB

Thanks so much if anyone can help!

I have the same thing happening and have tried everything including erasing the HD and reinstalling Os10 - Even going back to previous OS 10's and it still happens - Must be Apple Music confusion ?

In my case I have the same symptom, even with fresh installation of OS, I tried iTunes 12.0.1, even iTunes 11, same crash 5 seconds after opening. I found this thread and the error message is kinda same. iTunes freeze even in safe mode, it crashes too in iTunes safe mode.

When iTunes crashes, in my console this message is always there "GVA warning: failed to get a service for display id: xxxxx"

In that thread the owner seems to fix the problem by creating a new mobile sync folder, but I have no idea how he did this, still waiting for his comment there.

I'm also having the same issue here.

    I'm on a Late 2013 Mac Pro running 10.10.4

    3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5 / 32GB of RAM

I'm disheartened to see that reinstalling the OS was not helpful. That's what apple care just instructed me to do.

I recently started using iTunes Match and it has not functioned properly since day one. Is anyone else experiencing this issue an iTunes Match user? If so, has Match been working properly?

This is an unbelievable irritating issue that you think apple would want to solve.

    Hi There

After 4 weeks of problems my Mac Pro is now back to normal after having both GPU replaced - Both of them were faulty - Lucky I had Applecare but it took far too long to get there. It is definitely NOT a software problem so my advice is to get the GPU's replaced asap

    Cheers

    Terry

Just got my repair done today, iTune problem is definitely GPU hardware issue, I got both GPU board and the logic board replaced. There seems to be some quality issues on those Mac pro.
