adding an mp3 audiobook to iTunes 12

I downloaded a free audio book mp3 file from my banking institution for a rewards program. I have tried to follow the instructions to upload it to iTunes 12, the blue highlight comes around the perimeter of the audio window when I drag and drop from the desktop but then nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Greetings mindyann,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you have an audiobook on your computer that you would like to move into iTunes on your Mac. In this situation, I would suggest following the steps outlined in the attached article.

Add music to iTunes - Apple Support

Add music from your computer if you already have music in your library

To add more music from your computer:

  1. Open iTunes.
  2. Mac: Go to File > Add to Library.
Windows: File > Add Folder to Library. Learn how to turn on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.
  3. Navigate to and select the file or folder you want to add.
  4. Click Open.

Cheers,

Joe

I have a similar problem. I've purchased an audiobook (mp3) and downloaded to my desktop.

I've added the audiobook to iTunes BUT it now appears as music and NOT as an audiobook. Usually I've changed it myself by using CMD+i and changed the media type from music to audiobook. Now the only option is "music".

I've also tried to add the mp3 files to iBook, but without any result at all.

What to do?

MacBook Pro (2015), OSX 10.10.4, iTunes 12.2
