After 3 weeks of reading support answers and trying ALL of them, my formerly working iPod 2g will STILL not update, and is stuck in the sync mode. I bought a dock and iPhone goodies to gat a new iPhone when my contract expired. BUT 3 weeks of Apple **** convinced me to go with a Moto, so I guess it has been worth it in a way, I am now a confirmed Apple hater. I would just toss it, but it is as new.. and it SHOULD work.. It will download the new update software, unpack it and 20min or so later I get the 1604 message. I have done total uninstall and reinstall of itunes on three computers. AND tried every permutation of the "fixes" including holding the home button down during the install..EVERYTHING. nothing works.. PLEASE help me get this thing going so I can sell it and have a happy Apple free life!!
