Native Resolution not displayed in Windows 7

Hello,

I recently re-installed Windows 7 via the bootcamp assistant and I am finding that I cannot increase the resolution of my HP Pavilion 27xi monitor past 1920x... windows is not detecting the native resolution of my monitor. Previously the resolution of my monitor was displayed accurately I was able to increase it.

I have tried

-Reinstalling boot-camp drivers manually ( I used version 5.1.5621 for my macbook 13' mid 2013)

-Reinstalling windows (used en_windows_7_ultimate_with_sp1_x64_dvd_u_677332.iso)

-Manually updating video drivers through windows update

-Restarting multiple times

The monitor connects to my laptop through an HDMI cable. No matter what I try I cannot get the resolution to be what I had it to before I reinstalled windows.

Any ideas???

Thanks!

You should be able to use

HDMI video output

  • Support for 1080p resolution at up to 60Hz
  • Support for 3840-by-2160 resolution at 30Hz
  • Support for 4096-by-2160 resolution at 24Hz

according to MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) - Technical Specifications. Does the HP support the second and third resolutions? If not, the HDMI output will be 1080p. Does the monitor have a DisplayPort input?

Hi LonerT

Thanks for the fast response. I can't seem to reduce the refresh rate below 50 Hz. The monitor has VGA, HDMI and HDI inputs. I'm using HDMI and I had the monitor at higher resolutions before I reinstalled windows, although I can't remember the refresh rate I was using. I've tried changing to 50Hz refresh and reboot, and the resoluiton still only goes up to 1920x1080

The model number is not printed on the monitor but I've found the product on the HP support page. Its here:

http://support.hp.com/ca-en/product/HP-Pavilion-27-inch-Displays/7274719/model/5 304250/document/c03616870/

(So the product number is one of these three C4D27AA/C4D27A2/C4D27A7)

It does indeed say here (I think) that the max resolution is 1080p... but I swear that I had it up to like 4000x2000.

Ultimately I'm running a software that requires a lot of screen space and I just need to make more room. If I find that I was crazy before and that 1080p is the largest possible resolution... then is there a way to make things appear smaller?

Thanks for all the help.

The specification says

Recommended resolution (H x V)

1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz (Full HD) (same as max resolution)

It seems to be an older monitor with no DisplayPort. DisplayPort/Thunderbolt would give you higher resolutions.

Graphics and Video Support

  • Intel Iris Graphics
  • Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on up to two external displays, both at millions of colors
