Q: Yosemite and Canon Pixma iP4600 have suddenly stopped reading one another
I have been using a MacBook Pro with a Canon Pixma iP4600 for several years. Today the Macbook is not recognising the Canon. I re-installed the printer and all went fine until I had to select software in the dropdown menu. There was no available software for Canon. Nor was there a generic software available. Any suggestions would be most welcome.
MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

The last driver that Canon released for the iP4600 was for OS X 10.9. You should be able to install and use this driver on 10.10 so here is a link from the Canon Australia web site.
Note that since this driver is not signed for Yosemite its installation may be blocked by Gatekeeper. To get past the block, hold down the Control key and click on the driver installer. A pop-up menu will appear. Select Open. Now you will be able to install the driver.
