Q: Can I import a group of email addresses into CONTACTS from an email group in the "to" field?

There is a group comprising 40 email addresses at the Condo where I live. Messages are sent out via email to all of us and I would like to have this mailing list in a group in my Contacts in order to send to that group occasionally. Do I have to manually list each address in a separate contact or is there some short cut I could use?

You can drag the group name from the left hand column in Contacts.app to the To:, Cc: or Bcc: field in a Mail.app message. This will either be displayed as the group name or expanded to the individual addresses depending on the setting 'When sendig to a group, show all member addresses.' in

         Mail.app > Preferences... > Composing

In put the group in the Bcc: field if you don't want everybody to get replies.

Yes, you will need to make a contact card for each address.

Another option is to just select them all and drag them to the Desktop (or other folder). That will create a Text clipping. You can drag that text clipping into the To field. You'll need to turn off Smart Addresses so that you get the actual email address instead of just a name. After you create the clipping, you can turn that back on.

Thanks for the tip, Barney. I did create a text snippet which I then inserted in the BCC field and successfully sent out a message! That was a lot easier than creating 40+ contacts individually.
