When "photo" (iPhoto? Photos?) is running memory is being used. HD storage may also be used depending upon what the app is doing.

Jun 16, 2015 1:54 AM in response to lemachby lllaass,- When you first migrate it can take hours for the migration to complete even after you first open and then close Photos, That migration uses memory. For me after I migrated, it took overnight for the library to finally close after closing the Photos app.
- 4 GB of memory is very marginal for Yosemite. At least 8 MB is recommended. What specific Mac Air do you have?
