Most of the time 10.9 OS not booting with single user

Hi,

I faced some times, once i want to go in single user mode & recovery console in 10.9.5 OS that is not happened. I tired lots with all the method but not happened.

But once i tried external HDD & boot. After that i slected start with external HDD OS then it's going.

Please suggest or guide with me.
