Apple TV drops Ethernet every half hour

Hi all,

I am sys-loging one of my switches which has several Apple TV's connected. One of the Apple TV's regularly drops the Ethernet link and reconnects. A little over half an hour. Any ideas why it would do this?

The network cables + infrastructure are all tested & certificated to Cat 6. I may try different cabling + switch port just to be sure.

Here's a snippet:

Same here. Cisco SG300-28 switch, no port or cable errors, and the ATV Gen 4 is the only device that this happens with. It's filling the logs with junk! I tried disabling all of the Cisco 'Green Ethernet' port power management features in case Apple was tripping over them, but nothing changed.

My ATV had a static IP address assignment via my DHCP server. After other reports of similar issues, I deleted the DHCP entry on the server and manually assigned the IP address and network settinga on the ATV in an address range outside my DHCP pool. In other words, a static IP address assignment (along with subnet, DNS, etc). And that stopped the port restarts. I now have an absolutely clear event log on my switch, going on 24 hours now. Kinda defeats the purpose of DHCP, though.....

This seems to be a a bit of a problem that's been reported back on the ATV3 and ATV2. Someone in Apple isn't sticking to the standards....
