Upload specific photo album to icloud?

Is there a way to upload specific pictures from photo events/album to iCloud so that they are saved to the cloud and can be accessed across multiple iOS devices? I currently have over 30k pictures in my photo library and I do not want them all to be uploaded to my iCloud account which will then use up my space. However, I see the benefit of having it on from my Mac as there are pictures I want to be able to access on my iPad and iPhone.

Is there a way to do this?

iCloud Photo Library is all or nothing. You either upload the full library or no photos at all.

If you want only selected albums in iCloud create two Photos Libraries, one to keep only on your Mac, and one that will sync with iCloud.

See: Use multiple libraries

Or use shared albums to send photos to your other devices. You can set up 100 albums to share to other devices. You can share them simply to yourself and do not need to share with others: See: iCloud: iCloud Photo Sharing FAQ
