Q: How do I change an iMessage to be an SMS (blue to green)?

I want to send a message to someone who has no internet connection on her iPhone because she only uses wifi when available.

Settings->Messages->Send as SMS. Make sure its turned on.

Messages will then attempt to send an SMS if iMessage is not available.

SOrry Phil0124 but iMessage send the message to her iPad which she leaves at home within wifi range. I want a solution to tell my iPhone to send a normal SMS imstead of an iMessage.

send iMessage then hold finger on the text bubble and press send as text

Sorry ashmore1990 your suggestion worked but msg was still sent tru' iMessage not SMS!

You may have to have her delete the original message thread, then you can try it again.

Sure I will send her an iMessage to tell her to delete the thread and then send her an SMS with my msg!
Would it not be easier to have Apple add a choice to send as a) iMessage or b) SMS? Especially useful to communicate with people who travel abroad and have no internet access.

They do give you that choice, when you send the message, tap and hold and you can choose to send as SMS.
