Issue with touch screen in the heat

Has anyone else had issues with there apple watch in the heat? This past week end it was in the 90s and I was walking home from a after a yoga class (so my skin was hot too) and the screen became unresposive and started typing passwords on it's until it locked me out. I got home and put it back on the charger for a few minutes and it was back to normal once the watched cooled off.

Yes, indeed, the watch is designed for a moderate climate.

I started to read the technical specifications carefully after I had problems with my MacBook Pro and it stopped working when I was on a vacation in Tibet (https://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/specs-retina/). That was when I discovered that the limit for the operating altitude was 10000 feet. The same problem in Peru in the Mountains. The Mac stopped working at high altitudes. For the Macs the technical specifications are linked to the product pages at the Apple Store, but not for the Apple Watch. There the tech specs are hidden in the user guide.

Have you seen the supported operating temperatures in the Help text for the Apple Watch?

https://help.apple.com/watch/#/apd707b42a5e

Operating temperature Apple Watch is designed to work best in ambient temperatures between 32° and 95° F (0° and 35° C) and be stored in temperatures between -4° and 113° F (-20° and 45° C). Apple Watch can be damaged and battery life shortened if stored or operated outside of these temperature ranges. Avoid exposing Apple Watch to dramatic changes in temperature or humidity. If the interior temperature of Apple Watch exceeds normal operating temperatures (for example, in a hot car or in direct sunlight for extended periods of time), you may experience the following as it attempts to regulate its temperature:

  • Charging may slow or stop.
  • The display may dim.
  • A temperature warning screen may appear.
  • Some data transfer may be paused or delayed.
  • Some apps may close.

We can forget it for winter sports or in the tropics.

On further review, I wonder if mine (during a bike ride in 90+ weather) was reacting to the heat. However, when I got home and was in the shade the screen was on and the watch reacting. I was still in the heat (outside, central Florida, midday), but in more shaded light. So, I had assumed it was the readability in bright sunlight. But, maybe not.

I have experienced the same type behavior. The temperature in my area has been in the high 90s (97-100) the past several days and if I am outside any decent amount of time the display becomes unresponsive. Even after going indoors and allowing the watch to cool down, the display was still acting very strange. It would only toggle on and off, I could not interact with the touch screen at all. After setting the watch on the charger, it seemed to "reset" and I could use the touch screen again. This has happened twice in the past few days.
