flash drive problems

flash drive problems

I am trying to move a small movie from my desktop to a flash drive. I receive the error "modifying remote disc requires an administrator name and password"....to move file click authenticate'. I tried a different flash drive and different files (pictures, pdf, etc). I get the same message every time. I've reformatted the flash drive through disk utility, etc... TO no avail. Flash drives have always worked on my Imac in the past. Not sure what has happened here.

Any input would be appreciated. thanks.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Select the volume icon in the Finder and open the Info window. Click the padlock icon in the lower right corner of the window and enter your administrator password when prompted. Check the box at the bottom marked

Ignore ownership on this volume

Close the Info window.

Are you logged in as the administrator?

How is the flash drive formatted?

Test the flash drive on another Mac.

I have the same problem as the OP, but with an reader. No padlock visible in the info window and no "authenticate" button, but the reader is visible in finder.
