Q: Suggestion of a good replacement battery, ram, ssd and cd drive.

Hello,

Does apple make replacement battery? I called them but wasn't helpful. I have Mac Book Pro Mid 2010 model 2.66ghz and running Yosemite. As per apples site I can go up to 1000 cycles. But seems the battery looses charge really fast and I think it has gone fat as in its juiced up too much. But not sure. Also can someone suggest me a good replacement. Not to mention my touch pad becomes really hard to press on. I think its due to the battery.

Secondly on the ram, am still running 4 gb. I was hoping can it be upgraded to 16gb?

Third I am running a wd scorpio drive 500GB. dont remember the rpm. Its a SATA but was wondering if I can replace it with a 1tb SSD drive. Am asking because last time I tried putting a 1tb SATA drive it was slightly thicker and due to which I couldn't close the laptop. Hence is the physical 1tb SSD drive similar to a 1 tb Sata drive? Also won't it be an issue on the pins. (Sorry I am not so knowledgable on SSD drives.)

Lastly for quite some time, My internal cd drive doesn't read any cd. it just pops it back out. Any idea what might be the issue?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Any 2.5" SATA drive that is 9.5mm or less in height will fit. (SSD or HDD)

The SSD is a SATA drive

8GB is the max for your Mac as far as RAM goes.

Buy the RAM from OWC or Crucial.

FYI, the trackpad issue suggests that your battery is failing and swelling up, change it before there is damage to the Mac, an Apple Store will fit a new battery, the charge (inc the battery) is $129.00

well I did try a Hitachi 2.5 1tb drive but due apparently due to the thickness, I wasn't able to enclose the laptop. Anyways will go for the SSD then but question is performance and reliability wise, got any recommendation. I have seen people using Samsung as a preferred brand but recently someone suggested an Austrian brand by the name of Angelbird due to the fact that on a long term usage it won't slow down but samsung will due to which the price is slightly higher. Any recommendation?

I will check with apple on the battery part. but yet Regarding the battery, I can replace it myself but am just getting one brand when I google almost everyone is saying Newertech Nupower batteries. I was hoping that apple makes its own one. Any suggestions? Though amazon had one which didn't have any brand on it and was cheaper than Nupower but yet good reviews, though only five.

Any idea what is wrong with the cd rom?

Samsung 850 is the best out there, and it fits.
